Artist Biography

Kara Wilson is a Western Mass born visual artist, working primarily in screenprinting. She currently resides with her family in Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Kara’s work explores the abstraction of portraiture and landscape, expressed through layers of deconstructed geometric shapes.

Her current body of work began with an unexpected crack of illumination, a vision left imprinted in her mind after a dream. The space that exists between the dream world and reality is the foundation of her inspiration. The people and natural spaces that emerge in her mind’s eye, yearn to be clarified and condensed into their most elemental forms.

Kara holds a BS in Studio Art and Art Education from Skidmore College, with concentrations in painting and graphic design. She has also studied printmaking mediums, including woodblock printing and lithography, giving her a foundation for her self-taught screenprinting technique. Kara is a professional graphic designer and has worked as a creative director in the publishing field for over 20 years.
